How do I schedule a session?

A few things have to happen before we actually schedule a session. The first thing we need to do is have a little chat. I generally do these over Zoom. This is where you tell me how I can help you. What do you want from the session? Who is going to be involved? How much will it cost? How does the whole process work?

Then we look at the calendar and pick a date.

We will reserve your session appointment time, and you have five days to send me your session fee. You can mail a check or pay with a credit card via Paypal or Venmo.

Most sessions are scheduled on weekdays between 10am-2pm.Senior portraits are done after school. About once a month, there is a Sunday afternoon or evening session available.

For an end-of-life portrait session, I work with your schedule to make it as easy for you as possible.

Do you want to schedule a session? That’s AWESOME! I can’t wait to meet you! Please send me a quick note HERE and let me know when would be a good time to chat. We can schedule a Zoom appointment and go from there!

I need to reschedule. What happens now?

Feeling under the weather? Been exposed to COVID but think you’re *probably* fine? PLEASE STAY HOME. Seriously. Sick people don’t look good. And I don’t want to catch your cooties. We can reschedule. I want you at your best for your portrait.

How long will my session take?

In the studio, a basic corporate headshot session is scheduled for 30 minutes, but is frequently done in less than 10. For one subject, a one-or two-outfit session is about an hour. A 4-outfit-change session takes about 2 hours.

How will I select my photos?

For Corporate headshot sessions: You will select your image in the studio the day of the shoot. It will be retouched and you will receive your file within 48 hours (usually much sooner).

For ALL OTHER portrait sessions: All our image selection sessions are done in-person at the studio approximately 10 days after your shoot.Together, we will design an image collection worthy of being passed down for generations. We will work with size, finish, and framing together and leave no stone unturned! All printed images include a high-resolution digital file for archiving

How much does it cost? Why are there two different pricelists?

A Headshot Session is shot as a ¾ portrait (waist up) or tighter.  If all you want is a headshot or four, this is a simplified list to help you choose how many looks you want to capture.  The session fee and digital products are packaged together to make it easy.  Executive Portrait Headshots start at $225.  Most clients get the Classic Session.

If you aren’t sure what you want, or you want more than a headshot, then you have the option of doing a Signature Session and then deciding what you want afterwards.    You only pay for the session fee in advance.  The Signature session does not include any images or products, and are ordered separately.  Signature Sessions are $425, and prints start at $125.  Most clients order the Complete Collection

When will I get my order?

Most photography orders are ready for pickup within 4 weeks. For all digital orders, this timeframe is much, much shorter.    Orders can be shipped to our non-local clients as well.

Can I bring pets?

Absolutely!  Pets are welcome for any Signature Session portrait, with advance notice!  Please bring treats and walk your dogs for 20 minutes prior to the session in our neighborhood (this allows your dogs to acquaint with the new smells in the area.) All pets must be over 8 weeks old and up to date with their innoculations.

How should I prepare for my shoot?

At your pre-session consult, we will plan your wardrobe and clothing options for everybody included in your portrait. Clean hair, freshly painted (neutral-color) nails, and eyebrows/roots touched up no later than 48 hours prior to your session should all be considered.  Teenagers need to wash their hair the morning of the session, and it should be dry when they arrive.

What payments do you accept?

Credit Cards are accepted through PayPal.  US clients pay via check or bank transfer. 6-Month payment plans are available upon request.  Note: Payment is due at the time of the ordering appointment.  No prints or files will be released without payment in full.

I don’t know what I want?

That’s ok!  The whole process should be fun – and definitely not stressful.  We will work together to design the perfect products for you and your home.  Together, we’ll discuss your product options and style your shoot in the consultation, and then refine style, layout, and size in the ordering session.  You will receive completely finished artwork, not a “do-it-yourself” project.  All you have to do is sit back and admire it!

Didn’t you used to be a baby photographer?

Yes!  I actually started out as a documentary photographer, and then had a baby.  Turns out, having a baby with you makes it hard to blend into the background.  So I switched gears.  I started shooting studio work, and fell in love with it.  And babies were just so yummy to photograph.  All those chunks!  The giggles!  I did that for over ten years.  And then I started doing other things.  I spent five years as a freelance photojournalist for a local paper (If you don’t get it, you don’t get it!), I created art with no people in it whatsoever (and still do this).  But all along, I was creating these simple, clean portraits of people that would show how amazing I found them, and I’m still doing that now.   That’s all I want to do.  Do I still photograph babies?  Nope.  But I’m happy to recommend someone who will.
